This loose-leaf cardamom black tea fills the room with its heady scent. Its deep brown color is visually appealing and the rich cardamom flavor is heavenly. Enjoy it hot with or without milk or as a traditional Indian chai.

Tea Preparation
Water

The quality of water used has an impact on the quality of the tea. Always use freshly drawn water or filtered water.

Temperature

Heat fresh water to a rolling boil or to a temperature of 212F using an electric hot water heater or a stove top kettle.

Infusion Time

Use the infuser of your choice. Measure 1 teaspoon of tea per person. For a stronger brew preference, add an additional teaspoon for the pot.

Once the water reaches the appropriate temperature, it should be poured immediately over the tea bag.Keep the teapot covered to retain heat. Time steeping carefully and infuse for 5-7 minutes. When the tea is done steeping, immediately remove the tea and lightly stir.

Caffeine Level

This black tea has more caffeine than teas in our green tea range. It's important to keep in mind that brew time accounts for the primary influence over a tea's caffeine content.

Nice tea

I have always been a fan of Ahmad teas. I decided to try out the cardamom flavor on a whim, and found that it tastes quite good! The flavor is of course quite subtle and I do wish that the cardamom flavor was a bit stronger, but this is a pleasant tea that won't overpower anything you might serve it with. Can the tea substitute a chai? My Indian ancestors would likely disagree--the flavor is far too mild and lacks the robust spiciness of a chai. But if you consider it a mild-mannered Western cousin of the bold classic Indian chai, then it performs quite well!

What is "Natural Flavor"?

Please clarify if there is real cardamom extract in this tea. Cardamom has beneficial properties. If this is artificial flavoring of cardamom I think that could potentially be risky to health. It would be convenient if this product contains an extract derived from cardamom because the taste is nice, but until more information is provided about the flavoring I'll make a blend myself with real cardamom.

Thank you so much for your review! Cardamom is definitely a favorite.

Cardamom Confusion - real or not?

I like it a lot but can't give it full stars because the ingredients aren't clear to me. The box says I to contains "cardamom flavoring.". What is that? Is it actually real cardamom or not? This company's Chai spice tea' lists actual cardamom in the ingredients. Why would they put (or maybe just list) "cardamom flavoring" instead of real cardamom? I don't consume artificially flavored foods, and I'm surprised that a good quality tea company would basically cheap out like this. Especially since cardamom has health benefits be and is such an important spice for tea and middle Eastern cuisine. Can someone please clarify the ingredient here?

Smells Divine

This is a HUGE tin of tea, and that is not a bad thing because I can see myself drinking this often! The smell when you open the tin is so spicy and delicious, and when it's stepped the balance of spice and tea flavors is spot on. If you love cardamom or warm spicy (masala) teas you will love this! I steep at 212F for 5min and add a bit of non-dairy creamer. Yum!
